MiresBall Scores Design Honor for San Diego Mag’s “Best Of” Cover.

SAN DIEGO – The image of the adorable 5-year-old girl happily nibbling an ice cream cookie sandwich on the beach was meant to draw attention to all that’s great about San Diego, and MiresBall is proud to see it on San Diego Magazine’s “Best of San Diego” issue.

The cover of the annual best-of edition, which spotlights the city’s top burgers, beer, drive-ins and tapas, among other things – 159 in all – is itself a best of, with designs submitted by three local creative agencies.

The entries were put to a vote of the magazine’s readers and staff and, after some 600 votes were cast, brand agency MiresBall won the honor of seeing its work on the cover of the magazine’s August issue.

“We wanted to convey a strong sense of family, fun and place in our design,” said Scott Mires, partner and creative director of MiresBall, “and what better way to do that than by showing this beautiful little girl with a big smile and ice cream mustache playing on a sun-drenched beach.”

MiresBall collaborated with San Diego-based lifestyle photographer Kevin Roche on the winning entry, along with Dylan Jones, a senior designer at MiresBall.
