A Fresh Look for a Timeless Sound
New Shure packaging rolls out as part of a major brand revitalization

SAN DIEGO, October 1, 2007 — New packaging for Shure’s line of premium SE earphones began hitting Apple and Best Buy store nationwide this month. Designed by MiresBall, a leading brand consulting and visual design firm, the packaging emphasizes Shure’s professional-grade advantage and marks one of the first executions of the newly revitalized Shure brand.

MiresBall designed the packaging to highlight Shure’s core competitive advantages: its status as an iconic audio brand and its reputation for incredible product quality and performance. A rich, burnished color palette elevates the packaging’s overall perception of value, and detailed illustrations communicate the benefits of Shure sound isolation. In addition, a number of creative elements evoke the audio manufacturer’s storied history, including an authentic performance image, a heritage statement and a “developed for the pros” sticker.

MiresBall incorporated similar design cues into recent professional packaging. To mark the 40th anniversary of the legendary Shure SM58 microphone, MiresBall designed limited edition packaging that evokes the rugged durability that has made the SM58 a mainstay among professionals worldwide. With a chiseled anniversary seal and bold application of Shure color, the packaging helped spark a renewed interest in an industry mainstay, selling out in many international markets.

Both packaging projects come on the tail end of a yearlong revitalization of the Shure brand, encompassing a communications platform, visual system and brand guidelines. As part of this broad strategic effort, MiresBall introduced the tagline “Legendary Performance” to underscore the company’s reputation for quality and passion for performance—characteristics that have made Shure an industry leader for over 80 years.

“Shure is all about quality and reliability, and so it was vital that, as they reach out to new markets, they have a unified brand that makes an authentic connection with both pros and consumers,’ John Ball, Principal/Creative Director MiresBall.
